Design submissions are limited to 2 entries per individual. Open to all ages. Employees of Carmel Christkindlmarkt, Market Vendors, and their immediate family members are eligible to submit designs and have their submissions selected, but are ineligible to receive any of the accompanying prizes. By entering, entrants agree to comply with these official rules.
Upload your Glühwein mug design on the form on this page beginning May 1st: File format should be JPEG, PNG, or PDF, and the file size should not exceed 10MB.
Design Description: Provide a brief description of your Glühwein mug design. Include details such as the inspiration behind it, the colors, patterns, or any unique features.
Materials Used: List the materials you used or plan to use to create your Glühwein mug. For example: ceramic, glass, tin, etc.
Dimensions: Provide the approximate dimensions of your Glühwein mug, including height, width, and depth, if available. If you would like to continue the traditional boot mug shape for your mug design, you can download the template below.

Drawings can be submitted beginning May 1, 2024. Entries will no longer be accepted after June 30, 2024. The winner will be announced in August 2024. The winning mug design will be announced in February 2025. The winning submission and designer will be under an embargo until those announcements are made.
The designer of the winning submission will receive $1,000, four 2024 mugs, four 2025 mugs, and participation in Opening Day or VIP Day ceremonies.
Mugs will be judged on artistic merit, manufacturing feasibility, manufacturing cost, and how they reflect the Market experience and the City of Carmel.
The designer of the winning submission will be notified by the Carmel Christkindlmarkt via phone and email. The Carmel Christkindlmarkt will make two attempts to contact the designer of the winning submission. If the designer of the winning submission does not respond to attempts to the phone calls or emails informing them of their win within 14 days of the second contact attempt, then they may forfeit their claim to the prize; the Carmel Christkindlmarkt may continue to use the "winning submission" or choose an alternative design.
Winning submission becomes the intellectual property of Carmel Christkindlmarkt, Inc. in perpetuity. The Carmel Christkindlmarkt reserves the right to post the design on social media. Carmel Christkindlmarkt reserves the right to post the name of the winning designer. Carmel Christkindlmarkt reserves the right to alter the design to better suit mass production and/or lower manufacturing costs. Carmel Christkindlmarkt reserves the right to alter the design to better suit judgment criteria. (E.g., Refining artwork or submissions so they better align with brand standards or ensure that depictions of the Market are accurate.)

Yes, anyone can submit a design! This contest is open to all ages and abilities, and the winner will be selected by the Carmel Christkindlmarkt team. However, the prize must be must be picked up or shipped within the continental U.S.
All designs are due by 11:59 p.m. on June 30, 2024.
The mugs are currently made out of clay ceramic. The material can be adjusted to accommodate different designs. If you would like to use a different material, please include this in your design submission.
